What can i expect from IPL treatment?
You can expect to see reduction of sun spots, freckles and redness of rosacea, shrinkage of skin pores and improvement of texture and skin tone. Individuals that have severe wrinkles and scars may require a Thermage Treatment program. Ask our front desk for thermage information.
How is the recovery period?
After treatment, minimal discomfort is rarely present. The treated area can look mildly flushed and capillaries can be more visible. These affects fade and disappear, soon leaving you with younger looking pigment free skin. Make sure you follow after-care instructions given by the doctor and avoid any harsh skin treatments like cleansers. During exposure to the sun use a sunscreen of 45 spf or higher.
How does IPL work?
Light energy is delivered through a specific hand piece to the treatment area. Once delivered the energy is absorbed by tissues. The energy delivered to the area is according to your skin type to maximize the results.
How often can treatments be done?
Most patients need 3-5 treatment sessions three weeks apart to achieve best results. After the required series of treatments, annual follow ups might be needed.
What kind of skin conditions require IPL treatment?
• Rosacea (red flushed skin)
• Sun freckles/pigments
• Hyperpigmentation/small moles
• large skin pores/mild wrinkles
What are the side affects?
The appearance right after treatment is similar to what you will see after a good exercise workout. The flushing and redness will last from a few minutes to several hours in most cases, but rarely can last days and sometimes a week. The brown age spots and uneven pigmentation will turn darker after treatment and will darken over the next 3-5
days. These pigments will slough off about a week to ten days post treatment. Blisters can occur but are uncommon.
